• Today, August 24th, iconic underground producer/DJ, artist Justin Robertson and his Deadstock 33s alias joins forces with legendary former Fall guitarist Brix Smith for psychedelic surf disco cut ' Brix Goes Tubular'. The single released alongside its extended

version anticipates the upcoming ' Brix Goes Tubular' EP due on September 23rd, with a dub version dropping on September 2nd - via EMK - the electronic music platform

    launched by Kartel Music Group.

Riding the infinite wave of an endless summer's day, they pair created a smooth slice of psychedelic dance - a record for the beach and basement alike - swathed in colours of dub, and invoking the spirit of Compass Point Studios via the acid disco.

“We wanted to capture the spaciousness of a distant beach as the surf rolled in and the sound of a rider in the tube of the wave,” explains Justin Robertson . “The wide open palette of dub and particularly the vibe of Compass Point was very much our touchstone.

There are hints of the Tom Tom Club in there too, for good measure”.

Talking about the track and collaboration Brix Smith says; “I’ve always longed to collaborate with Justin, who can manipulate sound in a very different way than myself.

He is a magician who creates dimension transcending sonic atmospheres. The metaphor of surfing came to me instantly when I first heard the track. Surfing is a dynamic physical and spiritual experience. You are ‘in tune’ with Mother Nature”.

The upcoming ‘Brix goes Tubular' EP will also feature two new contrasting but complimentary cuts; the acid trip 'Witchy' - straight from the far out corners of the cosmic dancefloor - and the Detroit techno-influenced 'Immersion', which combines low-slung psychedelic groove and lysergic synth washes, with in Robertson’s own words, “the slightest hint of 1960’s film soundtrack”.

Justin Robertson is a DJ, author, remixer, producer, and artist with over 30 years’ experience as an innovator and restless proponent of fascinating forward-thinking electronic dance music. Cutting his teeth in Manchester & #39;s acid house explosion in late 1980's, he has worked with everyone from Bjork, Chemical Brothers, Erasure and Noel Gallagher 's High-Flying Birds to Justice, Erol Alkan and PBR Streetgang.

Brix Smith is the legendary singer, songwriter and guitarist known for her work in the Fall, The Adult Net, Extricated and now her own solo project co-written with the celebrated producer Youth.

She is an author, broadcaster, and television presenter famed for her style, good taste, and peerless tunes.
